Coco Gauff was all praise for Gabby Thomas after the American sprinter posted a video of doing her makeup herself. Both Gauff and Thomas are preparing for their 2025 seasons of tennis and track and field respectively.
Thomas shared a video on Thursday, announcing she was learning to become a 'beauty influencer'. The two-time Olympian was getting ready for the 38th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards and claimed at the start that she didn't know anything about doing makeup.
However, the 27-year-old outperformed her expectations and was proud of herself. After completing the makeup, she said:
"I am really proud of myself. I think I might do my makeup a lot more and post some more videos doing it."
The 2023 US Open champion Coco Gauff was also proud of Thomas. The former World No.1 claimed she thought the Olympian's makeup was done by an artist before the 27-year-old amazed her on TikTok.
"you did great!! whole time I thought a mua did your makeup 😍," Gauff wrote
Thomas dressed up in a chic layered black ensemble with the statement-making Philippa Bow Cape, which she claimed was looking great on her.
"I'm feeling myself in this cape and now it looks so good," she said during the video.
The five-time Olympic medalist went with sheer tights and a pair of booties befitting of the winter. She chose a simple ponytail for hair "because the outfit deserved its own moment".
Gabby Thomas congratulates Coco Gauff on maiden WTA Finals win
Coco Gauff became the youngest tennis player to win the WTA Finals since Maria Sharapova in 2004 when she beat Zheng Qinwen in a three-hour battle in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The American lost the first set but came rallying back to secure the win 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2).
The World No. 3 dedicated her victory to her supporters and thanked them for their unwavering support.
"I know tend to focus on “doubters/haters” but this one is really for all of my supporters," Gauff wrote. "Ya’ll held it down for me win or lose! I thank you for that. I see you and I appreciate you. And I know some of you are a little bit petty like me so it does feel nice to silence them for a bit."
Gabby Thomas congratulated the 20-year-old for the win as she reacted to her post on X and wrote:
"queen"
Meanwhile, Gabby Thomas became the first American track and field athlete to win three gold medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games in 12 years. She won the gold in the women's 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay at the Paris Olympics.
